I am paying far too much attention to bad things while wishing for good things to happen in life!
It’s not just the Internet, gossip or the news. It also concerns history books and many academic disciplines. They all have one thing in common: They are preoccupied with people’s absurd if not horrid behavior.
Initially I might have used those outlets as cautionary tales in hopes that knowing about all the bad makes me an upstanding, responsible citizen, superbly entitled to fight the evil and protect the goodness. Kinda like Captain America or Wonder Woman or something. Meanwhile, what I actually did was keep the bad alive – not only by occupying myself with it but also by circulating it. Worse yet, I set myself up to get addicted to negativity, so much so that good news was actually boooooring! (Of course, I would not call it “boring” but trivial and intellectually unchallenging …)
Seriously! What was I thinking?! How am I supposed to amplify and facilitate the good if all I ever do is give highest priority to the awfulness in this world? That’s like spending week after week on the couch and expecting that all the sitting will train me to climb Mount Everest!
CRAAAAAZY!!!
