Sometimes there isn’t enough paper in this world to list all the things going wrong in my life. Like the other day, when a brake light warning message came up in the car. Of course it wasn’t the bulb – which would have been an easy fix. No, it had to be an insulation problem. Cost to repair it: $900. Great!
So there I was, itemizing by degree of severity what else had gone wrong that day and the day before, and the month before that and last year – all the way back to the moment of my conception. And since there was no psychic at hand to help me channel the things that had gone wrong in previous lives, I moved on to long talks with my friends, neighbors and family until everybody and their hairdresser knew about my tragic fate, titled: “Why do so many things go wrong in my life?”😫
It goes without saying, all the wailing did not bring any resolution. It only flogged my issue to death. Hence, I challenged myself to try something different. I directed myself to use all the above mentioned resources (minus the psychic …) and focus on the solution instead of mulling over my tragic fate. In other words, I faced the situation head on instead of complaining about it.
My husband and I came up with all kinds of ideas, from finding a less expensive repair shop, which would bring the bill down to “only” $600, to selling the car and whatnot. We also googled the problem and lo and behold we stumbled upon a Do It Yourself video. All we needed was a repair kit for $16 and some tools from the shed that hadn’t seen the light of day in ages. We figured, for $16 versus $600 we could at least give it a try.
We ended up having a Husband & Wife Project. Granted, once in a while I needed a magnifier to see the tiny little wires and fit them in the likewise tiny little connector. But in the end we were spoiled with a sense of achievement because, believe it or not, we did it! We actually repaired the initially $900 bummer for a solid 16 dollars!!! YAY!!!
Bring it on, life! I know you’re not done challenging me! Let’s see if there are other pity parties I can turn into projects!

As always I love Brigitte’s ‘article’!!! I had just spent time with my sister and sent it on to her knowing it would strike a chord with her too. She also loved it. Judy G
