When I was a young woman, I wished for a partner with the same taste in things. Like what kind of furniture we love, what type of clothes, music, art, cars and so forth. I figured, this way I wouldn’t have to make compromises when decorating our house or listening to the radio. Instead I could always hear and see and be surrounded by what I love.
So, guess what?! My wish came true! My husband and I both prefer a contemporary style. We also like the same colors, car models, songs etc.
Yay!!
And then this happened:
We went on a vacation. Our rental was equipped with dishes and towels and sheets – the whole shebang. Cool, right?
Yeah.
Only problem was …
Because we have the same taste in things, we reached for the same fancy mug … and the same set of colorful towels … and the same chair on the patio … and the same comfy pillow …
In short, only one of us got what they wanted, while the other had to make do with what was left.
And that’s when my elaborate plan of having a partnership where I do not have to make compromises went completely out the door!
Yup.
Be careful what you wish for! 😂
