I posted a thread on our Facebook group last night but I am posting it here as well for the home owners who do not participate in the Facebook group:
As of today, 08/05/25, the Rosa Fire is close but there is still a good amount of distance. One positive factor is that the wind is light and traveling east with a slight southern bias.
That said, I think it’s a good time to think in terms of preparation.
What would it look like if you needed to evacuate? Even if it’s just a drill.
Think about your important documents and valuables.
Make a Go Bag that has some clothing, toiletries, medication, etc.
Think about checking on any vulnerable neighbors near you.
Keep your phones charged and alert settings turned on.
Keep an eye on the local news.
In the Off Off chance that there is an evacuation order we will be notified.
In our situation alerts would first be issued via Wireless Emergency Alert systems (WEA) which would go to your phone. Check your phone settings and make sure under notifications, Emergency Alerts and Public safety alerts are turned on. Also make sure the volume is turned up. Emergency alerts systems also appear on television.
In urgent situations the Sheriff’s Dept. typically uses vehicle-mounted speakers to issue evacuation orders. In very urgent situations they use helicopters and door knocking.

Palm Desert Community Center is an evacuation point for the affected communities so, for now they apparently consider Palm Desert safe.
Be prepared, not scared.

Thanks as always Steve for keeping us informed. It’s a mighty big fire. No one is going up nor or coming down on HWY 74, that’s for sure!
