My coworker made a mistake. Nothing major. But nothing that should be repeated either.
So, I told her.
What followed was the usual back and forth:
She did not think it was a mistake.
But it was.
Yada yada.
When she finally recognized it, I expected to feel good.
After all I was right and rightfully so, right?
Yeah, but I didn’t feel good.
Being right does not accomplish that, I realized.
What makes me feel good is not even related to being right or wrong.
It thrives on something else:
My state of consciousness.
And I realized another thing:
That state is so precious. It’s never worth losing over being right.
And certainly not if being in the right doesn’t have the power to make me happy anyhow.
