Like “I will be less controlling.” Believe it or not, that’s a really tough one for me. Because naturally, unavoidably, indisputably I am soooo much better at EVERYTHING than anyone else. How could I not intervene?
For instance, I am the uncontested Queen of Logistics. If need be, I will pack a four bedroom household in a smart car. And I am not talking playhouse bedrooms. I’m talking MANSION bedrooms! Hence, naturally, unavoidably, indisputably I am soooo much better at loading the dishwasher. But it so happens, in our family, that’s my husband’s job … In other words, when it comes to dirty dishes, the only way I can keep my New Year’s resolution is by either avoiding the kitchen, wear blinders, or hum one of my many mantras:
“I am NOT rearranging the plates.”
“I am NOT making any improvement suggestions.”
“I will quietly saunter through the kitchen. Quietly. Q U I E T L Y !”
A close runner up to being less controlling is: “I hereby and forever will relinquish the title of Bitch-Goddess.” That’s another hard one. Because naturally, unavoidably, indisputably … I think you catch my drift.
And as for what I’m going to say next, you probably know that one as well. (Hint: It starts with “If I’m not doing it” and ends with “it won’t get done right.”) So how could I NOT drop a remark?!? I mean, honestly, if you think about it, it’s absolUUUUUtely detrimental to humankind if I don’t monitor, inspect and command, right?
I’m telling you. Sometimes it’s quite a burden to be naturally, unavoidably, indisputably better at EVERYTHING. So, I figured this year, I’ll just go retro and use the New Year’s resolutions I carried over from previous years – and try once again to be less of a Goddess. 😉
Happy New Year Everyone!!
